Physician Workforce Survey Contributed by Nancy Sugden, AHEC Program Director
The physician workforce survey is back online for another try at improving the response rate. It is now open to both MDs and DOs, and has been streamlined somewhat compared to the original version. It should take about 15 minutes to complete. We discovered last fall that when practice organizations took care of the license renewal, they often did not forward the survey information to physicians. Our response rate last fall was about 30%. It must be much better than that for us to be able to use the survey data for assessing regional workforce patterns and shortages. We are particularly concerned about low response rates in the more underserved areas of the state, particularly in southwest, western and central Wisconsin. We hope you will encourage all your physicians to complete the survey as soon as possible. The survey will close at the end of February. MDs who have already renewed their licenses may go back in through the DSPS website to access the survey. DOs have the opportunity to complete the survey as a part of the DO license renewal in January and February. To access the survey, physicians who have already renewed their licenses will need their license number and PIN, which they may look up directly from the log-in screen. Here is the link to the survey: https://online.drl.wi.gov/UserLogin.aspx. After signing in, a list of options will appear (Print E-Credential, Download E-Credential, etc.). If the individual has NOT already completed the survey, the fifth item on the list will be "Take Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Survey Only". Simply select that item and proceed. Please note that the survey link will not appear if the individual has already completed the survey. You can check directly to see if the survey has been completed by going to the license look-up page: http://online.drl.wi.gov/LicenseLookup/IndividualCredentialSearch.aspx. Set the Profession to either Medicine and Surgery, MD (20) or Medicine and Surgery, DO(21) depending on the physicians license type Enter the license number (or physician's name) Hit SEARCH Click the hyperlink that is the license-holder’s name The DETAILS page will open. Click on the link for REQUIREMENTS in the middle of the page, this opens the list of renewal requirements. If the survey was completed, SVY will appear in the list of requirements and show the date it was met. If you have any questions, or suggestions on how to increase physician participation in this survey, please feel free to contact me.
