Membership Criteria

Regular (Active) Membership : Eligibility for Active Membership status in the Association is based on specific criteria which have been established and must be met for both the individual professional and his or her organization.

1. Organization criteria: Eligible organizations must be formally organized as ambulatory care organizations (ACO) in which Wisconsin licensed physicians have a key role in governance, policy making and operational outcomes. An eligible ACO may be physician-owned, industry-owned, government-owned, hospital-owned, University or medical school sponsored, or a segment of an integrated health system. Managed care organizations may qualify as an eligible ACO; for-profit management companies, consultant organizations, or a network that does not include physicians in key roles do not qualify.

2. Membership criteria: Eligibility for membership is defined by function and not title. An eligible individual is a leader within an ACO who is accountable for a range of activities, outcomes or organization goals; who is charged with achieving those goals through others and who is responsible for operations and has line management responsibility. A member who is qualified at the time annual dues are paid is considered a member in good standing for the balance of the calendar year even if the individual is no longer associated with a qualifying organization.

3. Out-of-state worksite: An individual who meets the criteria for Active Member status, but whose primary worksite is in another state, does not qualify for Active Member status and the attendant voting privileges, but may register for and attend member functions if they are a member of another MGMA state affiliate.

• Non-discrimination: Membership in WMGMA shall not be withheld on the basis of age, gender, race, disability, or sexual orientation.

Associate Membership: This dues category allows managers of affiliated health organizations to attend meetings as a member and have access to other membership benefits. Associate members are not eligible to vote or hold office and may be restricted from certain membership meetings and mailings.

Affiliate Membership

Affiliate membership may be granted to those individuals or entities interested in the Association and its goals and activities, who are not members of any organization whose interests are in conflict with the purposes of the Association. Affiliate membership status is appropriate for, but not limited to, individuals and entities whose primary purpose is to provide services or products to group practice operations. The Board of Directors has the authority to establish specific policies regarding this membership category and may revoke membership if deemed appropriate. Affiliate membership shall not be construed in any way as an endorsement by WMGMA of any product or service. Affiliate members are not eligible to vote or hold office and may be restricted from certain membership meetings and mailings.
